Iowa ACEP promotes the highest quality of emergency care and is the leading advocate in the state for emergency physicians, their patients and the public. We have been the advocate for Iowa’s emergency physicians since 1975 and are a unifying force in the emergency care community.
We are a respected and unified voice for emergency physicians in Iowa. We have more than 225 members and continue to grow. Iowa ACEP is a democratic organization and our Board of Directors and committee members are a diverse group of practicing emergency physicians that include academicians, private practice physicians, large group, small group, individual physicians, board certified, non-board certified, and others.
IOWA ACEP promotes policies that preserve the integrity and independence of emergency medical practice. We support emergency physician representation within medical organizations and academic institutions.
Iowa ACEP staff and members have formed important relationships that have resulted in open communication, increased visibility, and inclusion with a number of state agencies and organizations, including:
- Iowa Department of Public Health
- EMS Bureau
- Iowa Hospital Association
- Iowa State Medical Society
We are also emergency medicine’s voice at the University of Iowa and Des Moines University medical colleges. Iowa ACEP also played an important role in the development of the emergency medicine residency training program at the University of Iowa.
